Jean Leppien
About the artist
We rarely speak without saying too much. Some people, however, will turn these excess words into a painting. They want their over-flowing hearts to sing. Jean Leppien knows that music, too, just as all sentient beings of this century know it. Yet Leppien prefers moderation, so dear to Socrates – he is irresistibly drawn toward tedious wisdom. But he wants to put a smile on it. Here is then an art of painting in which clear, brief geometry reigns, geometry with all its known rigor and a discreet spot of humor. When the
mind is allied to deliberate poverty, no wealth in the world can match its charm.
