Marcelle Cahn

About the artist

After a longer period of doubt and isolation, in 1946 Marcelle Cahn found herself back on the path of abstract visual expression, employing curved lines and abundant color.
In 1952 came a radical break: Cahn suddenly returned to a highly constructed, geometric approach, establishing her typical style based on white backgrounds beneath a set of straight black lines that organize the surface with the help of basic shapes such as spheres and disks in relief (colored or not).

Starting in 1957, Cahn increasingly experimented with cut-outs and collages, which she pursued for the rest of her life
