Denis Pondruel

About the artist

What does the beholder observe in Pondruel’s work ? Shadows, lights, emptiness, fullness, immaterial, material, rigid and floating matters. The artist brings to the point in this work, the progress of an idea in the meanders of our brain, he tries to materialise the immaterial :

On one hand, the rigid concrete structure, well made, a precise architecture, sharp, studied, where nothing is left by chance. Here as evidence, we realise the capacity of the mankind to construct perfect things, the control of the technique prevail.

On the other hand, rambling words, bits of disconnected sentences, a little mad, appear as by enchantment, and the water, which fills up each inaccessible cavity, the hazard that the eye cannot follow. All this chaos, there, between the water and the words, here is actually Pondruel’s paradox, closed up into these small cubes made of concrete : the whole and his contrary.

Here are these ideas, which were borne and died in our heads so well made.
