Antoine Perrot

About the artist

On one hand, his works seem obvious to the beholder, like so many propositions that are apparently evident, that directly articulate the language of abstraction. On the other hand, by constantly incorporating elements from outside the sphere of art, and reinvesting them in the pictorial process, Perrot uncovers overlapping cultural strata that conflate the virtues of abstraction, the detachment of minimalism, the irony of pop, the processes related to a DIY approach, and the false naiveté of an allegedly brut art.

Born in 1953 in Toulon, works and lives in Paris
