Art Cologne
Hall 11.1 Booth A2
We are looking forward to seeing you again this year on our stand at the Cologne art fair. We will be featuring three of the gallery’s prime artists, Jean Dewasne (1910–1981), Auguste Herbin (1891-1961), and Victor Vasarely (1909–1980). During their lifetimes, Dewasne and Vasarely worked directly with Anne and Jean-Claude Lahumière, whose collection boasts a fine range of their art.
This is the moment for us to share their passion for geometric art, born of several important encounters, including a decisive one with Dewasne.
As young art dealers in the 1960s, Anne and Jean-Claude went to meet Dewasne, which led to several artistic events including a particularly memorable one in the Hauptbahnhof subway station in Hanover in 1975, resulting in a mural that is still in situ. Then there was Jean-Claude’s participation in the final version of Habitacle Rouge (Red Dwelling), now housed in the Musée Matisse du Cateau-Cambrésis in northern France.
This favorable influence determined the gallery’s direction. We will be showing a selection of works by these three artists on part of our Cologne stand, notably including an unusual one by Vasarely, somewhat outside the kinetic vein.
We will furthermore be contributing to a Vasarely show scheduled to open in the Städel Museum in Frankfurt, Germany in late September.
The rest of our stand will be devoted to contemporary artists such as Nicholas Bodde, Jean-François Dubreuil, Siegfried Kreitner, Henri Prosi, and Sigurd Rompza, whom visitors greatly appreciate year after year.
We look forward to seeing you again.
Best wishes from all of us,
Diane Lahumière and the gallery team
